The Procedure

The CoreTherm® procedure is a one-time treatment performed in the comfort of your doctor’s office or ambulatory surgery center.

The treatment catheter containing a special temperature-monitoring device and the microwave treatment device will be inserted into your urethra (the tube from which urine is passed from the bladder).

Your doctor will decide how much of the prostate needs to be treated while the CoreTherm® system calculates and monitors the intraprostatic temperature, the prostatic blood flow and tissue cell kill.

After the procedure, the treatment catheter is taken out. Your doctor will place a soft catheter into your bladder to drain urine. You may need to wear this catheter for approximately one week to ensure that urine can pass during your post-treatment healing period.

The CoreTherm® procedure takes an average of 10 to 30 minutes. From the moment you get to the doctor’s office until you go back home, it’s just a couple of hours.

The majority of patients experience a significant improvement within four to twelve weeks after their treatment with CoreTherm®. So start looking forward to a better quality of life!
